For many of us, the holiday season is a joyous occasion. A time filled with fun, food and family. However, there are those for whom the time between Thanksgiving and New Year's is complete and unrelenting torment and torture. There are those for whom the above quote ends at "You, me or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life." For those folks, this is not the most wonderful time of the year. Sadly, many will take the occasion not to celebrate, but to attempt something they have thought about over the years. Some will "fail" in their attempt, others will "succeed."
That act, if taken, will leave others for whom the holiday will never again be joyous. The pain and suffering and hurt and heartache will be transferred to those left behind.
Left behind with grief. Left behind with remorse. Left behind with unimaginable, unending and undeserved guilt.
Because the reality is, that for every one person who overcomes their demons, there are hundreds, if not thousands, who do not.
It is for those left suffering, those with no choice but to go on, that I wrote "Is Suicide Painless"
